DNA Electrical commended for quality workmanship on Rosslyn Park 'Smart Home'

DNA were able to bring to life our ideas ... the home control is also a good addition ... we couldn’t live without it.
— Mr. Liew

SITUATION

Mr. Liew, required electrical services for a new luxury and prestige house build in Rosslyn Park, Adelaide. This included work to span the 550 m², triple-story, open-living house. The client recognised they needed to partner with a premium electrical company who could execute their vision, while maintaining the highest quality of workmanship. DNA Electrical Systems was recommended by award-winning architects and home builders Chasecrown because of their strong work ethic, core values, and ability to respect others’ time.

TASK

DNA had to tackle a large and complicated site that required not only general electrical work, but home automation, security, internet and audio. Work extended beyond the 5-bedroom 2-bathroom home — complete with powder room and home theatre — into outside areas such as the garden, pool and storage rooms. Mr. Liew stated that he required a one-button lifestyle combined with the latest technology, from CCTV security and C-Bus lighting control to under floor heating automation and multi-room audio systems.

ACTION

DNA commenced work in February 2016 with a team of five: a site supervisor, leading hand, tradesman, and two apprentices. A broad range of high quality componentry was installed, including Clipsal C-Bus, Clipsal Cat 6 data cabling, Clipsal Starserve, Ness M1 alarms, Sonos Home Theatre Audio, and Unios Lighting. During the build DNA supplied, installed and wired all of the following (but not limited to):

  • 173 lighting points

  • 77 double power outlets

  • 51 C-Bus controlled lighting groups

  • 30 ethernet points around the house for local networking purposes

  • 17 automated C-Bus blind controllers

  • 6 zones of under floor heating

  • 5 zones of garden and pool lighting

  • 4 radiant heating panels within balcony ceiling

  • 3 pool heat pump feeds and automation

  • 2 automated heated towel rails

During the project the build of the house experienced delays and went over schedule. As a result, the window of time to complete the electrical work compressed. DNA Electrical responded by ramping up the man-hours, investing large amounts of overtime to ensure the project remained on track.

RESULTS

DNA completed work in November 2017, completing within the allocated timeframe, on budget and above all delighting the client. Mr Liew said “As part of a complex structure, DNA were able to bring to life our ideas about how the house would run, and incorporate some other nuances along the way.”

When asked about how his smart home has impacted his life, Mr Liew said “Remote CCTV monitoring is easy to use and something new to me. The Wiser 2 home control is also a good addition, which we added at the last minute. It is very convenient, and we couldn’t live without it.”
